Mist-Serpent Entanglements of the Foggy Woods and the Abandoned Beacon Tower
The Foggy Woods have always been treacherous, but a unnatural, spreading mist now chokes the trails, spawning venomous fog-serpents and disorienting travelers. At its heart, the long-abandoned Beacon Tower of Silverwatch has begun to glow with an eerie, pulsating light. Two desperate groups seek control of the tower's ancient power: the Keepers of the Flame, who believe it is the only beacon that can burn away the corrupting mist, and the Children of the Coils, who revere the mist as a sacred, purifying shroud and see the serpents as its guardians. Both have legitimate claims to survival, and both are willing to spill blood to achieve their vision.
Chronicle Prelude
The fortified logging town of Pinewall, on the edge of the Foggy Woods. Its palisades are draped in warding charms, and the constant, low fog at the treeline is a tangible, oppressive presence. Townsfolk whisper of missing scouts and the new, aggressive serpent life.
Environmental Traits
The unnatural mist is slowly, inexorably expanding, threatening to swallow Pinewall and the surrounding farmlands within a season. The Beacon Tower is the epicenter of both the mist's origin and its potential solution. The region's fate hinges on who controls the Tower's power.
