The Alkali Abyss: Corrosion of the Brine Lake
The Brine Lake, once a source of rare mineral salts and clear waters, has become a site of ecological catastrophe. Ships dissolve at their moorings, and the water burns flesh. Deep beneath the corrosive surface lies a bed of natural minerals with the power to either heal the land or fuel war. Two desperate factions have emerged, each with a plan to claim this power, and they see you as either a tool or a threat. Your journey will lead you from the safety of the lakeshore settlement, through the toxic, mutating wilds, into the labyrinthine ruins beneath the lake, and finally to the mineral heart where an impossible choice awaits.
Chronicle Prelude
The campaign begins in the fortified harbor town of Siltha's Landing, built on the only non-corrosive shoreline of the massive Brine Lake. The air smells of salt and anxiety. The town is a tense neutral ground, with representatives of the two main factions eyeing each other across the tavern. The initial quests are about scouting the increasingly hostile shore and dealing with the first signs of the corrosion's spread inland.
Environmental Traits
The Brine Lake is undergoing a magical-alchemical transformation. The water is becoming lethally corrosive, and the unique minerals on the lakebed are reacting to create a zone of both terrifying danger and immense potential. The region is on a knife's edge: the wrong action could render the entire basin a permanent wasteland, while the right one could save it—and grant its saver unimaginable power or a terrible weapon.
