The Boar King Enclosure-Breaches of Oak Valley
A wave of unnaturally violent, magically-enraged boars has torn through the ancient ward-stones of the Oak Valley Enclosure, a nature preserve managed by the druidic Circle of the Silent Root. The boars, led by a mutated alpha known as the Boar King, now rampage through the settled farmlands of Hearthstead. The source of the rage is traced to the Hunters' Guild, who have been secretly administering 'Rage Elixirs' to the boar population to drive them into a predictable, harvestable frenzy for their valuable, magically-infused tusks. The players are caught between the druids who see this as a sacred genocide requiring an immediate, lethal counterstrike, and the hunters who argue the elixir is the only thing keeping the boar population—and their livelihood—from a slow, starvation-driven extinction.
Chronicle Prelude
The players arrive in the smoldering village of Hearthstead, on the border of the Oak Valley. Smoke rises from a dozen farmsteads, and the wail of a grieving family mixes with the distant, guttural roars of enraged beasts. A hastily erected palisade surrounds what remains, manned by grim-faced Hunters' Guild members and a delegation of the Circle of the Silent Root, their faces masks of cold fury.
Environmental Traits
The region is a patchwork of civilized farmland and primordial forest, now a warzone. The Boar King's breaches have created a chaotic frontier where reality is scarred by wild magic leaks from the damaged wards. Victory means stopping the breaches, but the ultimate crisis is the poisoned state of the land itself, which will die unless the source of the rage is purified—or the entire boar population is culled.
