The annual Brewfest in the river city of Fermenthaven was shattered when the ceremonial Grand Cask exploded, showering the crowd with a mutagenic, blighted yeast. Survivors now twist into fungal horrors, and the city is quarantined. You are trapped within, caught between the desperate brewery guild seeking to restore their legacy by containing the plague, and the zealous Purifiers of the Chalice who believe the only salvation is to burn it all—and everyone infected—clean. Every sip of ale, every loaf of bread, could be your last mutation. Navigate the rotting city, uncover the truth behind the cask's sabotage, and choose who inherits the ruins.

Chronicle Prelude

You awaken in the shattered, yeast-fogged Fermenthaven Festival Grounds, surrounded by moaning, partially mutated survivors and the acrid smell of burnt malt and despair. The city gates are magically sealed.

Environmental Traits

The blighted yeast, a magical fungal spore, spreads through the fermented goods and water supply of Fermenthaven, slowly and grotesquely transforming its victims into myconid-like creatures. The city is dying, and the two factions offer radically different, ruthless solutions.

An aging human man with a once-proud bearing now slumped in defeat. His fine guild robes are stained and torn, his face pale and drawn with guilt. His hands tremble slightly, but his eyes hold a desperate, calculating glint.
High Purifier Solara
A tall, severe human woman with ritual burn scars mapping her face and hands like a cruel tattoo. She wears the stark white and crimson robes of her order, and carries a censer that emits a purifying, acrid smoke. Her voice is compelling, filled with fervent conviction.
Quartermaster Greta
A stout, pragmatic dwarf woman with a braided beard tied back with leather cord. Her clothes are practical, durable leather and canvas, stained with grime and ale. She moves with a miner's certainty and watches everything with sharp, suspicious eyes.
Initiate Rolan
A young human man, barely out of his teens, in the novice robes of the Purifiers. His face is clean and unmarred, but his eyes are wide with a mixture of fear and doubt. He fidgets constantly with the hem of his sleeve.
Infected Brewer Tom
A gaunt human figure, once a brewer's assistant, now partially fused with fungal growth. Patches of his skin have become porous, grey fungal matter, and one eye has been replaced by a cluster of small, bioluminescent caps. He lurks in the shadowed alcoves of the shanty-town, clutching a broken bottle.
Fungal Horror
A shambling humanoid shape barely recognizable as having once been human. Its body is a grotesque fusion of pulsating fungal masses, tendrils, and vestigial limbs. A faint, sickly glow emanates from within its chest cavity. It moves with a lurching, aggressive gait, emitting wet, clicking sounds.
The Brewmaster Horror
A colossal, tragic monstrosity filling the center of the Master Vat Chamber. What was once a man is now fused with the massive, corrupted copper vat. A humanoid torso and head emerge from a mountain of pulsating fungal tissue and corroded metal, its face a mask of agony with milky eyes. Tendrils of mycelium act as both limbs and the vat's new circulatory system, pumping luminescent green ale throughout the cavern.
Purifier Templar
A figure in the stark white and crimson plate armor of the Purifiers' inner guard. The armor is scarred and soot-stained. They wield heavy, spiked maces that glow with a faint, constant inner heat, and their helmet visor reveals only empty, fervent eyes.
