Beneath the boughs of a primordial forest, the Ancient-Oak Court is a realm of living wood and whispered judgments. Its ruler, the venerable Treant Elder Comas, has fallen into a deep, unnatural slumber, his roots entwined with a dark secret: the forgotten Execution Grounds. The court's two great factions—the Wardens of the Old Growth and the Speakers for the Rot—now wage a silent war over the truth of the Elder's condition and the nature of the justice once dispensed in those buried halls. The players are drawn into a web of fey politics where every step deeper into the earth is a step toward an ugly, necessary choice.

Chronicle Prelude

The players arrive at the Verdant Threshold, the outermost court of the Ancient-Oak, a place of dazzling bioluminescent flora, sylvan diplomats, and an atmosphere of serene, watchful intelligence. It is a hub of information and uneasy peace.

Environmental Traits

Elder Comas is not merely sleeping; he is being slowly consumed and preserved in a state of living death by the roots growing through the ancient Execution Grounds. The court's stability, and the entire forest's, hinges on resolving the conflict between those who wish to preserve him as he is and those who seek to end his suffering by severing his connection to the cursed earth, an act that would unleash the violent history buried there.
