The Drowned Priest's Bargain
The coastal village of Brinehollow is dying. Not from plague or war, but from a creeping, unnatural silence. The sea, once teeming with life, now offers only barren nets and whispers of a 'beached altar' glowing with sickly light. Worse, colossal, phosphorescent octopus tentacles have begun to drag fishermen from the docks, their screams swallowed by the fog. A desperate plea for help has reached you: find the source of this horror and end it. But the sea holds more than one truth, and every choice here is a tide that pulls you deeper.
Chronicle Prelude
You stand on the rain-slicked docks of Brinehollow. The air smells of salt, rot, and fear. A crowd of gaunt fishermen and their families huddles near a smoldering brazier, their eyes fixed on the unnatural, blue-green glow emanating from the distant sea caves—the Azure Grotto. The village elder, Maren, approaches you, her voice raw. 'The Deep Priest's altar has surfaced. His tentacles are coming for us. Please... make it stop.' She presses a damp, torn page into your hand—a fragment of a journal belonging to the last expedition.
Environmental Traits
The Azure Grotto is a network of submerged and semi-submerged sea caves, now corrupted by the influence of a long-drowned priest of an elder oceanic entity. The 'Beached Altar' is a focal point of this corruption, pulling the tide and the very life force of the coast into a vortex of fey and abhorrent magic. The ultimate goal is to confront the entity at the altar and sever its connection to the material plane, but the path is fraught with two desperate, conflicting claimants to the grotto's power.
