The Dying Breath of Sandstorm Valley
The eternal sandstorms of Sandstorm Valley have become a living, rampaging entity. The ancient Weather-Control Spire, a relic of a fallen desert empire, has malfunctioned. Its core is overloading, summoning and enraging a colossal Sand Elemental that is not merely destroying the valley—it is the valley's dying heartbeat made manifest. Two desperate factions now race to the Spire's heart: one seeks to appease the elemental and restore the natural, harsh balance; the other intends to seize the Spire's power to forcibly control the storms and reshape the valley into a new paradise. Both paths require sacrifice. The party is caught in the eye of the storm, forced to navigate shifting sands, ancient traps, and the philosophical clash between preservation and progress.
Chronicle Prelude
The arid, wind-scoured outpost of Dusthaven, a collection of sun-bleached tents and sandstone hovels clinging to the edge of the encroaching dunes. Refugees from the valley's interior crowd the space, their eyes haunted by the perpetual roar of the supernatural storm. Here, agents of both factions seek capable hands.
Environmental Traits
The valley's weather cycle has broken. Without intervention, the Sand Elemental will achieve full manifestation, consuming all organic life in a desert-spanning maelstrom before its own energy dissipates, leaving a lifeless, glassy wasteland. The Buried Spire is the nexus of the crisis and the only location where the outcome can be decided.
