The Escalating Gasp of the Sky-Port
The Sky-Port of Aetherium Spire is a marvel of arcane engineering, a floating nexus tethered to the earth by colossal, enchanted chains. Its lifeblood is the regulated pressure of the elemental air that keeps it aloft, managed by a network of arcane valves. The ground crews, the 'Anchorites,' toil in the shadow of the spire, their lives dictated by the whims of the sky-dwellers. When a series of critical pressure-relief valves are pulled, causing catastrophic depressurization and the escape of semi-sentient Aero-Bladder Constructs, the players find themselves trapped in a city dying from the inside out. The sky-vessel 'The Gilded Claw' is crippled, its captain demanding immediate retribution, while the Anchorites claim this is the only way to force the Spire's masters to the negotiating table. The players must navigate a city tearing itself apart, where every choice of who to help will have lethal consequences for the other side.
Chronicle Prelude
The players are in the Mid-Level Market Terrace of Aetherium Spire, a chaotic zone of floating stalls and panicked civilians. The air shimmers with escaping pressure, causing minor gravity fluctuations. Below, through grated floors, they can see the chaotic industrial sector of the Anchorites, and above, the pristine command spire of the 'Sky-Lords' is half-shrouded in venting mist.
Environmental Traits
The immediate crisis is a cascading pressure failure threatening to rip the Sky-Port from its chains within hours. The long-term crisis is a social schism between the privileged Sky-Lords who control the Spire and the exploited Anchorite ground crews who maintain it. Victory means stabilizing the Spire, but how it is stabilized—who is empowered and who is crushed—will define the players' legacy.
