The Ettin Throne-Feud of Skull-Cleaver Canyon and the Dormant Ancient Dragon Egg of the Abyss
The twin-headed Ettin warlord, Skull-Splitter, lies dead, but his throne—a colossal, skull-studded monolith—remains empty. His two surviving sons, each claiming one of their father's heads as their spiritual successor, now wage a brutal civil war through the treacherous Skull-Cleaver Canyon. Their conflict has unearthed a dormant dragon egg of abyssal origin from the deepest canyon rift, a prize both factions believe will secure their reign and the canyon's future. You arrive as neutral arbiters, but the canyon's blood-soaked stone and the egg's corrupting whispers will force you to choose a side or forge a third, bloody path.
Chronicle Prelude
The campaign begins at the Razor's Edge Outpost, a precarious neutral trading post clinging to the canyon's rim. Caravans from both factions trade warily here, and the air is thick with gossip, rumors, and the scent of dried blood and rust. The outpost is a fragile island of commerce in a sea of hostility.
Environmental Traits
Skull-Cleaver Canyon is a miles-deep, labyrinthine rift in the earth, its walls carved with ancient battle scars and etched with faded runes. Two Ettin factions—the Blood-Skull Tribe and the Iron-Jaw Clan—control opposite rims and key chokepoints. Their war has destabilized the canyon, awakening predatory creatures and stirring the abyssal energies of the dormant dragon egg hidden in the deepest sanctum. The region is a powder keg; the egg's hatching could birth a new tyrant or unleash an abyssal cataclysm.
