The Gilded Cage of Kazadhur
The ancient dwarven stronghold of Kazadhur has awakened. Its automated defenses, dormant for centuries, now patrol with lethal efficiency, guarding a volatile magma core that has begun to destabilize the mountain. You are not the first to be drawn here by the tremors; two desperate factions have already breached the outer gates. One seeks to salvage the legendary forges, the other to contain the magical cataclysm. Both believe their path is the only one that leads to survival. The deeper you delve, the more the truth unravels: the 'rampage' is not random, but a calculated, desperate defense of something far more valuable than gold or safety.
Chronicle Prelude
The Tier-1 safe zone is the 'Sundered Anteroom', a defensible chokepoint just inside the main gates of Kazadhur. The air is thick with ozone and dust. Two makeshift camps are established here: one of the rival factions. The floor is littered with broken automatons and discarded equipment, evidence of the recent, violent entry. The only path forward is blocked by a massive, slagged portcullis, its mechanism fused by intense heat.
Environmental Traits
The magma core beneath Kazadhur is not a natural formation, but an ancient, crystallized heart of a primordial fire entity, bound by dwarven runes. Its 'instability' is a conscious reaction to the violation of its prison. The automatons are its immune system. The ultimate victory condition is not simply to 'stop the core', but to determine its fate: to release it, to reinforce its prison, or to find a way to communicate with the dying intelligence within, each choice irrevocably altering the region.
