The Obsidian Spire's Dread Reckoning
A primordial threat awakens in the heart of the Obsidian Spire. The Magma Golem, a being of pure elemental wrath, stirs within its volcanic core, its awakening a death knell for the surrounding lands. At the Spire's pinnacle, the Balor's Hammer, a weapon of demonic origin capable of either calming the Golem or enslaving it, lies sealed. Two factions, each with a desperate claim to the Hammer's power, clash in the shadow of the mountain. The players are drawn into a conflict where every choice carries the weight of thousands of lives and the very soul of the region.
Chronicle Prelude
The players arrive at the fortified outpost of Ironhaven, a grim settlement built from black volcanic rock at the base of the great Obsidian Spire. Smoke rises from fumaroles in the ground, and the air shimmers with unnatural heat. The outpost is on high alert; scouts have reported the mountain's tremors growing more frequent, and the magma rivers that flow from the Spire are running hotter. The two major factions have representatives here, each seeking heroes—or pawns—for their cause.
Environmental Traits
The Obsidian Spire is a massive, dormant volcano that has begun to reawaken. The seismic activity is a direct result of the Magma Golem, an ancient elemental guardian created to police the mountain's heart, stirring from its millennia-long slumber. Its awakening is not malevolent, but a catastrophic act of nature. The Balor's Hammer, a powerful artifact created by a long-dead demon lord to command fire, was sealed at the Spire's summit as a failsafe. The region is dying: the heat is causing widespread wildfires, the ground is unstable, and the magma flows threaten to consume everything. The players must ascend the Spire, navigate the internal caldera, and reach the summit to secure the Hammer and decide the fate of the region.
