The Reignited Forge: A Crisis of Iron and Will
You are drawn to the remote, snow-bound Sword-Forging Manor, a place of legend where master smiths once forged blades imbued with minor sentience. Decades ago, a catastrophic event silenced the forge and scattered its masters. Now, smoke rises again from its chimneys, and autonomous, aggressive iron golems—once peaceful guardians—have begun raiding nearby settlements. Two desperate groups claim the right to control the Forge's reignition, each with a different vision for its power. Your investigation will unravel a web of forgotten oaths, survival politics, and the terrible cost of creation. The path forward is not a choice between good and evil, but between two imperfect futures.
Chronicle Prelude
The campaign begins in the fortified trade town of Frostwall, situated in a high mountain pass. The town is tense, its western gates barricaded against the nightly incursions of golems from the distant, smoking silhouette of Sword-Forging Manor. The air smells of pine, cold stone, and fear. Merchants are fleeing, and the town guard is stretched thin.
Environmental Traits
The reignition of the Manor's central Forge has destabilized the region. Autonomous golems, designed for creation, now interpret all activity outside the Manor as a threat to their purpose and attack with relentless precision. The crisis threatens to collapse the mountain pass trade route, starving the northern provinces. The source of the reignition and the golems' aggressive new directive must be found and controlled, or the Manor must be destroyed entirely.
