The resulting 'Phantasm Ooze' now imitates the forms of people and creatures it has absorbed, rampaging through the spire's foundations and warping reality. The party is hired to contain the crisis, only to discover the ooze is not mindless—it holds the fractured memories and desperate hopes of its victims, including the student who started it all. The spire's governing Synod and the radical Transmuter's Cabal both seek control of the phenomenon, for reasons that are far more complex than simple containment.

Chronicle Prelude

The Grand Atrium of the Scholar Spire, a magnificent tower-city of arcane academia. The air hums with latent magic and scholarly debate. However, a pall of fear hangs over the lower levels, and guards restrict access to the Undercroft lifts. Whispers speak of 'mimicking horrors' and a catastrophe born from a student's final exam.

Environmental Traits

The Undercroft, a labyrinthine network of old laboratories, archives, and containment cells beneath the spire, is now a hellscape of gelatinous imitation. The party must navigate this corrupted zone, discern truth from ooze-created illusions, and decide the fate of the living memories trapped within the blight before it consumes the spire above.
