The ancient pact between the mountain clans and the storm-brooding Thunderbirds is shattered. Poachers, driven by a desperate need for resources, have triggered a catastrophic, uncontrolled tempest that is now consuming Mist Valley. The clans blame outsiders for the ecological disaster, while the poachers claim the clans' ritualistic guardianship was already failing. As the perpetual storm intensifies, the land fractures. Players arrive as neutral outsiders, drawn into a conflict where both sides have blood on their hands, and the only key to stopping the magical cataclysm lies within the shattered, storm-wracked Eyries themselves.

Chronicle Prelude

The village of Stillwater, a damp, fortified settlement at the edge of Mist Valley. Smoke curls from sod roofs as worried clanfolk bar their doors against unnatural lightning. The air tastes of ozone and fear. A desperate elder pleads for help, while a scarred, pragmatic poacher captain offers a different truth from the tavern corner.

Environmental Traits

The Valley is being unmade by a rogue magical tempest. The only way to stop the storm is to reach the heart of the shattered Thunderbird Eyries atop the central peak and confront the source of the weather anomaly. But the Eyries are now a treacherous, lightning-scarred labyrinth, and two factions stand in the way, each controlling a path and demanding your allegiance.

Old Man Hemlock
An elderly human male with a long, tangled grey beard and wild hair. He lives in a ramshackle hut cobbled together from driftwood and scrap metal at the very edge of the valley. His eyes are surprisingly clear and intelligent.
Maddened Thunderbird Fledgling
A juvenile Thunderbird, roughly the size of a large eagle. Its plumage, once likely vibrant, is dull and frayed. Its eyes glow with a wild, painful energy, and arcs of unstable lightning crackle randomly from its wings and beak. It shrieks and thrashes erratically, a creature in magical agony.
Storm Elemental Swarm
A swirling, semi-coherent mass of crackling energy, dust, and debris. It takes a vaguely humanoid shape as it moves, but constantly shifts and writhes. It is drawn to areas of high magical resonance, like a guardian spirit made of pure storm fury.
Ridge Mercenary
A tough-looking human in dented, practical armor with the Free Company's rough sigil—a broken chain over a mountain—painted on the shoulder plate. They carry a heavy mace and a shield, their eyes constantly scanning for threats.
