The Glimmer Fey, ancient wardens of the Silverleaf Forest, have withdrawn into desperate, violent raids. The Ancestral Boundary Tree that once sealed their shimmering demesne has been felled by a logging camp, its sacred wood stripped for firewood and charcoal. The forest is now bleeding wild magic, and the loggers, the Ashenwood Compact, claim they are merely desperate settlers pushed from their own lands by a blighted harvest. Neither side is innocent. You are drawn into this bleeding wound in the world's fabric, where the only paths forward are through the grief of the fey or the defiance of the mortal intruders.

Chronicle Prelude

You arrive at the outskirts of the logging camp, Ashen Hollow. The air smells of fresh-cut pine and old resentment. Half-built cabins stand beside stumps of ancient trees. To the north, the forest of Silverleaf shimmers with an unnatural, wounded light, and the sounds of distant fey keening drift on the wind. The camp's leader offers warm food and a grim warning; the forest offers only whispers of a deeper, ancient sorrow.

Environmental Traits

The felling of the Boundary Tree has ruptured the ancient pact between the mortal world and the Glimmer Fey realm. Wild magic bleeds unchecked, causing localized temporal distortions, sentient flora gone berserk, and territorial fey to lash out. The Ashenwood Compact, facing starvation in their former homeland, sees the forest as their only salvation. The Glimmer Fey, seeing their home and very existence unraveled, have resorted to lethal force. To restore balance, someone must pay a price—and both sides believe it should be the other.

A woman in her middle years, her face lined with hardship and responsibility. She wears practical, worn leather armor and carries a woodsman's axe. Her eyes are haunted but resolute. She stands near the central bonfire, watching the forest.
Old Man Hemlock
An elderly man with ink-stained fingers and spectacles perched on his nose. He sits behind a makeshift desk piled with ledgers and tally sticks, constantly counting. He looks exhausted and worried.
Borin 'Ironshod' Krag
A burly man with a thick black beard and a missing ear. He wears heavy boots and a reinforced leather apron stained with dark substances. His eyes are shifty, and he carries a heavy, notched cleaver.
Ancient Dryad Spirit
A translucent, flickering figure of a woman formed from swirling motes of light and shadow, hovering above the great stump. Her form is indistinct, constantly shifting between bark, leaf, and empty space. Her voice echoes from all around.
Compact Miller Guard
A tired-looking man or woman in simple padded armor and a steel cap, carrying a spear. They have the look of a farmer forced into soldiering, standing watch outside the mill with a mixture of boredom and unease.
