Two desperate factions now clash over how to handle this existential threat. One seeks to reinforce the Ward at any cost, even if it means permanently silencing the dreamer. The other believes the Reader's dream is a priceless, living repository of forgotten truth and must be preserved, even if it means letting the psychic tide wash over the world.

Chronicle Prelude

The campaign begins in the relatively intact 'Athenaeum Gate,' a fortified checkpoint at the edge of the psychic contamination zone. It is controlled by a neutral salvage consortium, offering quests, supplies, and dire warnings. The air hums with latent energy, and distant, rhythmic thuds—The Reader's snores—can be felt through the stone.

Environmental Traits

The Silence Ward, a monumental arcane construct woven into the library's very foundations, is failing. Its energy is visible as flickering, crackling runes on walls and floors, and its collapse would unleash The Reader's unfiltered psychic landscape upon the material plane.
