The Spell Trap Reset of the Arcane Cloisters
The ancient Arcane Cloisters, a network of magical sanctums built by a long-dead archmage, have reawakened. Its automated defenses—the 'Spell Traps'—have reset, sealing the inner sanctums and locking away a catastrophic magical anomaly. Two desperate factions, each with a claim to the Cloisters' legacy, seek the 'Lost Access Token,' the only key to deactivate the traps and reach the core. You are caught in the middle, navigating a labyrinth of activated golems, wild magic zones, and crumbling architecture. Neither faction is purely righteous; both are willing to sacrifice others to achieve their goals. Your choices will determine who controls the anomaly—and who gets buried with the ruins.
Chronicle Prelude
The players begin in the Grand Atrium, a vast, cracked marble hall at the Cloisters' entrance. Dust motes dance in shafts of light from shattered skylights. The air hums with latent magic. Here, representatives from both factions can be found, each offering a map and their version of the truth.
Environmental Traits
The core anomaly, a 'Mana Wellspring,' is destabilizing, threatening to unleash a magical catastrophe that could level the surrounding valley. The Cloisters are designed as a self-contained gauntlet: progress requires solving arcane puzzles, bypassing traps, and making alliances—or enemies.
