The Sunken Sun Obelisk: Oasis of Bones and Coral
The desert oasis of Al'Kharid has been poisoned. The Sunken Sun Obelisk, an ancient monument said to grant visions of water, now pulses with a sickly green light. Sahuagin outlaws, driven from the deep seas, have occupied its shores, while Manticores, twisted by the obelisk's corruption, raid from the dunes. Caught in the middle are the last survivors of a desert caravan, desperate for the oasis's water. The truth lies beneath the sand and waves, in a choice that will determine who lives and who becomes another bone bleaching in the sun.
Chronicle Prelude
The fortified camp of the 'Dune Walkers', the last remnants of a merchant caravan, established in the shadow of a crumbling desert watchtower. The air tastes of salt and ash. Water is rationed, and the horizon is a haze of dust and distant, unnatural storms. The Sunken Sun Obelisk is visible on the distant shore, its top half submerged in the oasis waters, glowing faintly.
Environmental Traits
The Sunken Sun Obelisk is a nexus of corrupted elemental energy. Its influence is dehydrating the land while simultaneously flooding the oasis with toxic, magically-charged water. Two factions fight for control of this scarce resource: the desperate land-dwellers and the displaced sea-creatures. The region's fate hinges on reaching the obelisk's core and choosing which balance to restore—or destroy entirely.
