The Circle of the Thorned Root, radical druids, unleash a terrifying concussive wave to shatter poacher camps, but their methods risk obliterating a frontier town built on hunting and trade. Players must navigate the blood-soaked grasslands, uncover the true source of the blight, and decide which desperate faction's future they will champion—or condemn both to oblivion.

Chronicle Prelude

The town of Dusthaven, a weathered frontier settlement clinging to the edge of the Verdant Expanse. Smoke rises from charcoal kilns, the air smells of cured hides and woodsmoke, and a nervous tension hangs over the market square where hunters trade wary glances with traveling merchants.

Environmental Traits

The Great Herds are sick and dying. The Circle of the Thorned Root believes only total expulsion of all humanoid presence will save the land, deploying a devastating, semi-sentient concussive wave that warps terrain and shatters minds. The town of Dusthaven believes its survival and heritage depend on controlled hunting and trade. A secret third party profits from the chaos.

Mayor Elsa

Grak

Silt, the Blighted Bison Spirit
A shimmering, translucent apparition of a great bison, its form constantly dripping like wet clay. Its eyes are pools of sorrow, and the sound of low, pained moaning surrounds it. Where it treads, sickly grass briefly flourishes before curling and blackening.
Fungal Tender Garth
A tall, humanoid figure of pale, mushroom-like flesh. Its head is a blooming fungal cap, and its arms end in root-like tendrils. It moves with a slow, deliberate gait, releasing faint puffs of luminous spores. It is a Myconid, and its every gesture speaks of reverence for the corruption.
Venn, the Trapped Earth-Spirit
A colossal, vaguely humanoid shape of shifting stone, soil, and twisted root, partially formed from the cavern wall. Its 'face' is a cluster of glowing, amber crystals, cracked and weeping a viscous, golden sap. The fungal parasite roots dig deep into its form, causing it to spasm and groan with the sound of grinding continents.
Tracker Ruk
A wiry, cunning-looking human male in dark, non-descript leather. He wears a Compact armband, but his eyes dart with a paranoia that suggests his loyalties lie elsewhere. He moves silently and carries a shortbow.
