The White Sand Port Underdark Disruption
White Sand Port, once a gleaming jewel of coastal commerce, is dying. Its foundations are being gnawed from beneath. Mysterious sinkholes swallow warehouses, and monstrous vermin—pale, eyeless things—are emerging from the subterranean warrens that the port's own black market vendors secretly dug. The established Merchant's Guild blames the 'Tunnel Rats' for destabilizing the city and inviting the Underdark's horrors. The smugglers, however, claim they are the only ones keeping the port's starving populace fed with contraband goods, and that the true threat lies deeper—a seismic beast awakened by the Guild's own reckless deep-well mining. You arrive as the tremors grow worse, and the city's factions draw battle lines above the crumbling streets.
Chronicle Prelude
The players arrive at the Docks District of White Sand Port. The air smells of salt, rotting fish, and damp earth. Half the wharves are roped off due to 'structural instability,' and a crowd of gaunt dockworkers stares at a newly formed sinkhole that swallowed a merchant's wagon. Merchant's Guild enforcers in polished blue tabards argue with a group of tough-looking figures in dark leather—the 'Tunnel Rats'—near the mouth of a collapsed sewer grate. The tension is palpable.
Environmental Traits
The regional crisis is the literal undermining of White Sand Port. A monstrous Umber Hulk or similar burrowing terror has been roused to frenzy in the subterranean tunnels, its destructive path threatening to collapse the entire port into the sea. The players must navigate the city's decay, choose a side (or play both), descend into the warrens, and confront the beast—only to discover its 'frenzy' is a symptom of a deeper, more damning secret.
