The Woven Edict
For centuries, the Silent Wardens guarded the Elven Obelisk of Weaving, its roots a living lattice holding the Inscribed Ancient Edict—a pact that bound the primal forces of the forest to a state of dormant sentience. Now, the pact frays. The roots animate with violent, alien purpose, strangling the land. Two factions, each armed with desperate truths, have converged upon the heartwood. One seeks to destroy the obelisk to sever the pact and end the blight. The other seeks to complete the edict's final, forbidden clause, believing it will achieve a terrifying, permanent harmony. The roots do not discriminate; they will consume all who trespass without the key to the new order. You must navigate the living labyrinth and choose which future the forest shall suffer.
Chronicle Prelude
You arrive at the crumbling outer sanctum of the Weeping Glade, a former elven waystation now choked by pulsating, aggressive root growth. The air hums with a low, dissonant energy. Two heavily fortified camps—The Wardens of the Severed Root and The Scribes of the Final Verse—eye each other warily across the central plaza, their temporary truce held by the imminent threat from the depths of the grove.
Environmental Traits
The region is undergoing an ecological cataclysm known as the Root Entanglement. The Elven Obelisk, a nexus of ancient pacts, is malfunctioning, causing its guardian roots to lash out blindly, consuming villages and warping wildlife. The ultimate goal is to reach the Inner Sanctum of the Obelisk and resolve the conflict by either destroying it or completing the edict, either action releasing a massive wave of energy that will reset the region's fate for a generation.
