Initial Crime Scene
The scent of lemon wax and cold cigar smoke hangs in the still air, cut by the faint, clipped sound of a clock ticking from the mantelpiece. Deep light from heavy velvet curtains falls across the polished mahogany desk, its surface gleaming save for a faint, dust-free rectangular outline. A deep, rectangular indentation compresses the thick wool rug fibers before the desk, and a single, dry ring of condensation marks the leather writing blotter.
