An independent forensic specialist is summoned to the Vandermeer-Ashton estate on the morning of a society wedding. The investigation centers on a physical anomaly discovered on the heirloom wedding dress. The specialist must navigate the estate's social sphere, examining physical traces and environmental schedules, to determine the nature of the incident.
Initial Crime Scene
The scent of coal smoke and aged linen greets you as you cross the threshold. The heavy tick of a grandfather clock, its brass winding key showing a peculiar sheen, provides the room's only rhythm. Three environmental markers anchor the space: the open Guest Signing Book on a distant table, its blue ink still wet and glistening; the humid, glass-walled conservatory beyond a set of doors; and the poised, stiff-backed figure of the household matriarch standing near the cold fireplace grate.
Crime Scene Environment
The macro atmosphere is defined by the low, flickering illumination of oil lamps and candles, casting long shadows. The air carries a consistent humidity, tinged with the scent of damp earth from the conservatory and old paper from the library. Acoustic density is low, dominated by the persistent, mechanical tick of clocks and the muffled, stifled sounds of the household.
