The air carries the sharp, acrid scent of burned vellum mixed with the damp chill of coal smoke. Your eyes first catch the vivid claret-stain blooming on the deep-piled Aubusson carpet. A faint, rectangular dust shadow outlines a recent displacement on the mahogany sideboard's polished surface. Finally, the stern gaze of a large oil portrait above the hearth is violently smeared with wet paint, distorting the ancestor's face.
Crime Scene Environment
The environment is defined by the warm, flickering glow of gaslight illumination casting deep, moving shadows.
