Now, two desperate groups have found it: a tribe of jungle natives who see the mine as a sacred violation of their ancestral lands, and a struggling frontier settlement that needs the gold to survive the coming winter. Both have legitimate claims, and the players are caught in the middle. The valley's dense canopy, treacherous terrain, and territorial wildlife create a natural gauntlet, but the true challenge lies in the impossible choices ahead.

Chronicle Prelude

The frontier outpost of 'Timberhold' stands at the valley's edge, a collection of rough-hewn log buildings clinging to a defensible hill. Smoke rises from chimneys, and the air smells of pine and tension. Miners and settlers eye the jungle warily, while a contingent of the 'Verdant Wardens,' the local native tribe, maintains a tense standoff at the tree line. The players arrive seeking work, answers, or both, stepping into a powder keg.

Environmental Traits

Howler Valley is a bowl-shaped, mist-choked jungle basin. The constant, deafening shrieks of howler monkeys from the canopy create auditory cover and psychological pressure. The lost Dwarven mine, 'Grimstone Delve,' is said to be at the valley's heart, protected by ancient traps, a territorial alpha beast, and the conflicting interests of the two factions who both need its riches to survive.
