The Stablemaster, a man of impeccable reputation, presents a forged pedigree certificate to hide a desperate bargain he made with a hidden power to save his life's work. Two factions now circle the dying farm: the Purifiers, who seek to burn the tainted herd to stop the plague from spreading to the realm's other beasts, and the Breeders' Guild, who see a monstrous but potentially controllable evolutionary mutation in the dying horses. Your party is hired to investigate the 'accidents,' but will soon find there is no clean solution, only a choice of which disaster to endorse.
