Rust and Ruin: The Goblin Tinkerer's Gambit
A subterranean network of scrapyards and fungal tunnels, choked with the smell of ozone and rust, has become the stage for a brutal, desperate conflict. Two factions clash not over treasure, but over the means of survival and control. The Goblinkind of the Rust-Eater Tribe, led by a brilliant but paranoid Tinkerer, have weaponized their warren with a labyrinth of rapidly resetting traps. Opposing them are the Silvervein Dwarven Expedition, a displaced mining clan who see the goblins' mechanical mastery not as innovation, but as a desecration of the deep earth and a direct threat to their ancestral claims. Players are thrust into the crossfire, their every choice a step on a path paved with rusted gears and moral compromise.
Chronicle Prelude
The campaign begins in the neutral, half-collapsed surface outpost of 'Creakwater Depot', a former trading post now repurposed as a staging ground for both factions and independent scavengers. It's a tense, smoky hub where dwarven engineers argue with goblin scouts over salvage rights, and the air hums with the sound of distant, unseen machinery. Information is a currency here, traded in whispers over stale ale.
Environmental Traits
The region is a vertical labyrinth: a series of interconnected goblin warrens, ancient dwarven mines, and a recently discovered, massive pre-goblin 'Machine Core' that both factions believe holds the key to their future. The crisis is one of technological and territorial escalation, where the wrong move could collapse the entire underground structure, burying everyone in a tomb of their own making.
