The Archivists of the Stacked Aisles, the library's living scholars, see the Caretaker's enforcement as a brutal suppression of intellectual freedom and academic pursuit. They have begun to hide and protect forbidden texts, viewing the Recovery Golems as tyrannical tools of a stagnant, uncaring system. You are caught in the crossfire, a neutral party whose only path forward is through a labyrinth of contested knowledge and desperate choices.

Chronicle Prelude

The Grand Atrium of the Athenaeum, a vast, silent hall of floating shelves and soft, ambient magical light. The air hums with latent energy. Here, you can speak to the few neutral Archivist assistants, receive a cryptic briefing from a shimmering holographic steward, and see the first, docile Recovery Golems stationed at key doorways. Environmental Traits
