The Azure Catastrophe
The grand Azure Sky-Festival ends in catastrophe as the flagship airship, the 'Celestial Dawn', crashes into the marshlands below. Captain Lysa Thornwood, a celebrated hero, is found dead in the wreckage, a ceremonial festival goblet still in her hand. The festival's exclusive spirit, 'Whisperlight Ambrosia', is known for its calming properties. The factions of the city are split: the grieving Festival Guild blames sabotage, while the pragmatic Watchers of the Spire point to the dangerous, unpredictable magic used in the ship's propulsion. The truth lies buried in the toxic crash site, where the Captain's final log and the corrupted Ambrosia hold the key to a city-wide conspiracy.
Chronicle Prelude
The Azure District, a city of tiered gardens and floating platforms, is in a state of shocked revelry. The festival banners still flutter, but the crowds are silent, staring at the thick column of black smoke rising from the Chromatic Marshes where the 'Celestial Dawn' crashed. The player is approached by both a tearful Festival Guild steward and a grim-faced Watcher of the Spire investigator, each offering a contract and a different story.
Environmental Traits
The crash of the Celestial Dawn has not only killed its captain but has also unleashed a magical corruption from the ruptured Aether-core into the Chromatic Marshes. This 'Aether-Taint' is spreading, warping flora and fauna and threatening to seep into the city's water table. The ultimate goal is to uncover the true cause of the crash and stop the taint at its source, a choice that will exonerate one faction and condemn the other, reshaping the city's future.
