The livestock of the border village of Greenhaven are vanishing, dragged into a sprawling, semi-sentient carnivorous thicket. The village elder blames the reclusive Sylvan Wardens who protect the forest. The Wardens, however, claim the thicket's aggression is a direct result of a corrupting artifact—a stolen Elven Gemstone—hidden within its heart. To survive, one must choose whom to believe, for the thicket does not forgive trespassers.

Chronicle Prelude

Greenhaven, a fortified farming village on the edge of the monstrous forest. Its walls are high, its people are hardened, and its fields are empty. The air smells of manure and fear. A desperate petition board stands in the town square, offering bounties for any who can stem the livestock losses.

Environmental Traits

The Carnivorous Thicket is a living, hostile ecosystem. It has expanded for a decade, swallowing pastureland and causing the village to starve. The ultimate goal is to navigate the thicket, confront its heart, and decide the fate of the Elven Gemstone within its central Pollen Sac—a choice that will either empower the forest to consume Greenhaven or render it inert, leaving the village to its own devices.

Thorn Stalker Alpha
A massive, bipedal vine-beast, a tangle of thick, thorny limbs and a central mass of pulping wood that serves as a head. Two glowing, sap-filled orbs act as eyes. It moves with a horrifying, deliberate intelligence, guarding the chasm known as the Living Gorge.
Pollen Guardian
A swirling, semi-sentient elemental of golden pollen and whipping vines, coalescing within the fleshy, pulsating chamber of the Pollen Sac. It does not have a fixed form, but rather a terrifying, ambulatory cloud of hallucinogenic spores and razor-sharp tendrils.
Gemstone Echo
A faint, shimmering psychic imprint that manifests when one touches the inert Elven Gemstone. It appears as a translucent, sad-faced elf of ancient design, speaking not with its mouth but directly into the mind.
