The Crumbling Crossing
The once-vital Stone-Spine Bridge has collapsed, severed by the cunning mimicry of colossal Rock Crabs that now inhabit its ruin, their shells disguised as the very stone of the crossing. Bandit gangs, the 'Lure-Singers', exploit this chaos, using potent pheromone lures to herd the creatures and blockade the only safe passage through the Razorfen Gorge. Trapped between a crumbling infrastructure and predatory opportunism, travelers face a choice: side with the desperate engineers of the 'Keepers of the Path' who seek to destroy the crabs at any cost, or the pragmatic 'Lure-Singers' who believe controlling the creatures is the only viable future. Every step toward the gorge's heart is a gamble with trust, terrain, and ten-foot claws.
Chronicle Prelude
The players arrive at the fortified waystation known as 'Broken-Bridge Station', a ramshackle collection of wooden palisades and guard towers built on the stable cliff-edge overlooking the gorge. The air smells of salt, stone dust, and anxiety. The distant, rhythmic clicking of massive chitin echoes from below, and the occasional panicked shout from the barricades marks another 'crab-spotting'.
Environmental Traits
The macro-narrative crisis is the complete severance of the Stone-Spine trade route by the Rock Crab infestation. Victory is reaching the far side of the Razorfen Gorge, but doing so requires navigating the political and physical minefield created by the two factions vying for control of the crossing's future. The gorge itself is a vertical labyrinth of precarious ledges, collapsed sections, and hidden crab warrens.
