The Deadwood Fury
The ancient, sprawling Deadwood forest has fallen silent. Where once fey whispers and the groan of primordial trees echoed, now only the stench of sawdust and the cold fury of displaced dryads linger. You are called to the frontier town of Hollow's End, where loggers from the Ironvein Logging Consortium have felled the heart-tree, a cursed primordial known as the Whisperwood. Now, the forest's last dryad, Thistle, wages a desperate, lethal war against the trespassers, her grief twisted into verdant vengeance. But the Consortium holds a dark secret: the Whisperwood was not merely a tree, but a living prison for a slumbering blight-spirit. Its felling may have been a catastrophic mistake, or a calculated gambit to save the region from a greater, creeping curse. Your choices will determine who is righteous, who is condemned, and whether the Deadwood finds peace or becomes a permanent scar upon the world.
Chronicle Prelude
The border town of Hollow's End. Once a minor logging camp, it has swollen into a tense, fortified settlement. The air smells of fresh-cut timber and fear. Consortium guards patrol the palisade walls, while weary loggers nurse their wounds and shattered spirits. In the town's single tavern, The Stump, arguments rage between those who blame the dryad and those who whisper that the Consortium provoked a sacred wrath.
Environmental Traits
The Deadwood region is in a state of ecological and spiritual collapse. The felling of the Whisperwood has caused the forest's heart to die, triggering a cascade of magical decay: trees rot from the inside out, streams run black with ichor, and the fey pathways warp and twist. The dryad's fury has made the forest a lethal maze of animated vines and spectral hunters. The ultimate goal is to resolve the conflict, either by appeasing or destroying the dryad, and to contain the now-freed blight-spirit before it consumes the entire region.
