The Defense Cannon Desert-Salvos of Thorn Hold
The great desert fortress of Thorn Hold, a bastion against the endless sands, has fallen into chaos. Its legendary defense cannons, the 'Salvos,' have been firing without cease into the dunes for weeks, wasting precious ammunition and drawing unknown horrors closer. The culprit is Captain Alistair Krov, a once-heroic officer now lost to drink and grief, who has implemented 'Practice Directives'—rigorous, nonsensical drills that drain morale and resources. The players arrive as desert winds carry the stench of smoke and sand, to find a garrison torn between blind loyalty to their broken captain and a desperate faction demanding his removal before the fortress falls.
Chronicle Prelude
The Outer Barbican of Thorn Hold: A sand-blasted courtyard where soldiers in worn tabards perform futile drills under a blistering sun. The air tastes of gunpowder and despair. A frantic quartermaster waves you down, begging for help as another cannon blast shakes the walls.
Environmental Traits
Thorn Hold is a desert fortress under siege—not by an army, but by its own crumbling discipline and the monstrous Sand Wraiths drawn to the cannon fire. The Salvos must be silenced or redirected before the garrison starves, mutinies, or is overwhelmed.
