The Duskwood Hive War
The ancient Duskwood, once a tranquil forest, now festers with a blight that twists flora and fauna into monstrous forms. At the heart of this corruption lies a silent war: the disciplined Giant Ant Legion, struggling to preserve their ancestral territory and way of life, versus the Mutated Hive of the Subterranean Queen, a fungal-hivemind born of dark magic and desperate for expansion to feed its cancerous growth. Players are drawn into this ecological and ideological conflict, where neither side is purely right, and the fate of the forest hangs on a knife's edge.
Chronicle Prelude
The Miregate, a fortified logging town on the edge of the Duskwood, is under siege. Militia patrol earthen walls, and the air smells of ozone and decay. Refugees from the forest's edge speak of silent, giant insects and walls of pulsating fungus. The town's elder pleads for aid, but the townsfolk are divided—some want to purge the forest, others to study it, and a few whisper of bargains with the creatures below.
Environmental Traits
The Duskwood is a living battlefield. The surface is a maze of petrified trees and acid-etched clearings patrolled by the Ant Legion. Below, the Subterranean Queen's network of fungal tunnels expands, threatening to undermine the entire region. The forest itself is dying, and if the conflict is not resolved, the corruption will spread beyond the Duskwood, creating a wasteland.
