Now, the gnomes face extinction: a blight withers their crops, and their young sicken from a mysterious wasting sickness. Desperate, they've turned to forbidden ultrasonic resonators—vibrating devices that shatter the stalactites at a cost. The resonance destabilizes the caverns, awakening the dormant 'Dripstone Guardians,' massive, crystalline constructs that now roam the halls, attacking all intruders. The gnomes believe the shattered cores hold the only cure for their children. The Guardians, however, are not mere monsters; they are the slumbering immune system of the Hall itself, and their awakening threatens a cascade that could collapse the entire Underdark sector. Players arrive as outsiders, caught between a dying people's last gamble and the awakening of an ancient, protective will.

Chronicle Prelude

The Gnome Warrens of Echo Hollow: A cramped, damp settlement of fungal lanterns and echoing tunnels, built into the wall of a massive, cathedral-like cavern. The air hums with a low, almost subsonic vibration, and the gnomes move with a frantic, desperate energy. The warrens are a fragile island of 'civilization' surrounded by the growing hostility of the awakened cavern.

Environmental Traits

The players must navigate the escalating crisis within Dripstone Hall. Victory is not a simple slay-the-dragon scenario.
