Their path leads directly through the fertile Ashfall Valley, threatening to incinerate everything in their wake. An airship from the Arcanum Collegium, sent to investigate, lies wrecked upon the crater's edge, its crew missing and its research data tantalizingly incomplete. You are mercenaries hired by the desperate valley settlers, but the Collegium's surviving scholars and the serpents' tribal guardians both offer compelling, conflicting narratives about the true cause and the only way to stop the coming firestorm.

Chronicle Prelude

The fortified trading post of Cindertown, clinging to the slopes below the active volcano. Smoke drifts constantly, and the ground trembles with increasing frequency. Settlers bar their windows with ashwood planks, and the air smells of sulfur and fear. The distant crash site of the airship 'The Argent Hawk' glints on the high ridgeline, a beacon of unanswered questions.
