Two desperate factions scramble for the power of rebirth, but the embers are unstable, and the volcano itself stirs. Veteran adventurers must navigate shifting alliances, treacherous terrain, and a final, agonizing choice that will decide the fate of the region.

Chronicle Prelude

The players arrive at the smoldering outskirts of the caldera, at the fortified waystation of Ashen Outpost. It is a tense, neutral ground where prospectors, scholars, and the desperate gather to watch the plume and plan their expeditions into the volatile crater.

Environmental Traits

The ultimate goal is to secure the Phoenix Hatchling and the concentrated Rebirth Embers from the inner sanctum before the volcano erupts, but doing so requires aligning with or betraying one of two factions vying for the embers' power.

A heavy-set human in Ashen Verdict engineer's leathers, his face smeared with grease and stress. He constantly wipes his hands on a rag, eyes darting between the massive Tremor Lock mechanism and the distant, smoking caldera.
Ember Crawler Alpha
A massive, chitinous insectoid the size of a warhorse, its carapace glowing with veins of magma. It guards a cluster of pulsing crystals with territorial aggression, its mandibles clicking as it senses intruders.
Phoenix Hatchling
A small, weakly chirping bird made of shimmering heat-haze and soft flames, perched precariously atop a geyser of Rebirth Embers. It seems fragile, newly hatched, and utterly unaware of the forces vying for its fate.
Ancient Spirit
A ghostly, translucent echo of a magnificent Phoenix, its form woven from memory and smoke. It drifts near the Hatchling, its gaze old and sorrowful. The air around it hums with forgotten power and melancholy wisdom.
