The 'Moorland Compact,' a guild of merchants and druids, sees the valley as a lost cause, seeking to quarantine and burn it to protect the realm. Caught in the middle are the desperate Shaddocks, who believe a cure lies within the valley's heart, and the pragmatic Compact, who see only ashes and safety. Your party arrives in the fringes, drawn by rumors of a priceless lost artifact—the 'Golden Shears'—said to be able to cut through the magical fleece. You are not heroes; you are mercenaries, opportunists, or perhaps fools seeking redemption. The valley does not want your pity. It wants your choices.

Chronicle Prelude

The Players arrive at 'Grizzleford,' a fortified hamlet on the outer edge of Wool Valley. It is a tense bottleneck where the Moorland Compact's wardens check all traffic, and Shaddock refugees huddle in squalid camps, pleading for aid. The air smells of smoke, damp wool, and despair. The only path forward is through the valley's tangled perimeter, but the Compact controls the gate and the Shaddocks control the old smuggler's trails.

Environmental Traits

The Wool Valley is undergoing a catastrophic magical blight. The native sheep have mutated into 'Fleece Horrors,' and the land itself is being slowly consumed by a semi-sentient, parasitic wool that chokes out all other life. The ultimate victory is not just survival, but deciding the valley's fate: cure the land for the Shaddocks, or burn it all for the Compact. The Golden Shears, a mythic artifact, is the key to either outcome.
