Veteran players will navigate a city on the brink of riot, where every faction's hands are dirty and the only 'cure' may be a worse poison.

Chronicle Prelude

The players arrive in the smog-choked, half-timbered trade city of Gildhaven two days after the 'Brewfest Cataclysm.' The city square is littered with shattered casks, whimpering addicts, and squads of the City Watch. The air smells of stale ale, ozone, and panic. Two dominant power blocs—the Brewers' Guild and the Vintner's Circle—have barricaded their quarters, blaming each other. The populace is scared, angry, and highly suggestible.

Environmental Traits

The city is under a de facto quarantine. The euphoric herb, now dubbed 'Fizzleblight,' has a catastrophic secondary effect: it corrodes iron. City infrastructure, gates, and weapons are weakening. The Watch is overwhelmed. A mob is forming. The players must uncover the true source of the corrupted herbs in the ancient, magically-charged 'Verdant Warrens' beneath the city before the city tears itself apart or its defenses fail entirely, inviting conquest by a neighboring duchy.
