The Inked Abyss of Star Lake
The once-pristine waters of Star Lake have become a choking, iridescent nightmare. A colossal, phosphorescent octopus, maddened by arcane pollution, now drags entire barges to the depths. Behind the ecological disaster lies a bitter feud: the Dockside Union, desperate for coin, has been dumping 'spoiled' arcane ink—a byproduct of illicit scroll-forging—to avoid paying for its safe disposal. In response, the Circle of the Undying Tide, a fanatical druidic sect, has summoned the octopus as divine retribution. The truth, as always, is murkier than the ink-choked waves.
Chronicle Prelude
The docks of Laketown, a once-thriving trade hub now paralyzed by fear and the stench of alchemical rot. Fishermen mend nets in silence, their boats useless; constables eye every newcomer with suspicion; and a palpable tension hangs between the Union's warehouses and the druids' hidden groves on the shore.
Environmental Traits
The campaign's crisis is twofold: end the octopus's reign of terror on Star Lake, and resolve the ecological and social catastrophe caused by the arcane ink. Victory requires navigating the deadly stalemate between pragmatic survival and zealous environmentalism, with no easy 'good' side.
