The Jaguar Path: Fangs and Snares

# Wilderness# Beast# Intrigue

The ancient Jaguar Path, a sacred trail winding through dense, primordial jungle, has become a killing ground. Massive sabre-toothed tigers, once apex predators in equilibrium with the forest, now stalk with unnatural aggression, their territory scarred by crude poacher snares. Players are drawn into a conflict between the Wardens of the Green Veil, who see the beasts as vital spirits of the land and seek to restore balance through mystical means, and the Free Trappers of the Outskirts, desperate settlers who kill the tigers for their valuable pelts to survive a looming famine. Every step on the path risks ambush from either claw or steel, and every choice deepens the blood debt between civilization and the wild.

The players arrive at 'Veil's Edge', a fortified frontier outpost at the mouth of the Jaguar Path. It is a tense neutral ground where scarred trappers trade pelts, and grim-faced Wardens prepare for patrols. The air smells of woodsmoke, beast musk, and fear. A notice board offers bounties, but the writing is in two distinct hands—one for beast hides, one for information on 'corrupted' animals.

The Jaguar Path itself is a treacherous, vine-choked canyon system leading to the mythical 'Heart-Stone', said to be the source of the jungle's primal energy. Poaching has agitated the tigers, driving them into the canyon and making the path impassable. The crisis: the tigers, maddened by pain and territorial intrusion, are now hunting humans beyond the canyon, threatening the outpost. The path must be cleared, but how—and for whom—is the players' choice.
