The brine-soaked isles of Squid Reef have always whispered of the Tentacle-Clutch—a cyclopean monolith rising from the deepest trench, inscribed with a script that drives scholars mad and fishermen to prayer. Now, the script bleeds. A creeping, psychic miasma seeps from the crags, twisting sea life into monstrous parodies and promising apotheosis to those who listen. Two desperate powers clash over this abominable font: the Pearl Wardens, who seek to shatter the monolith to save the living sea, and the Abyssal Concord, who believe the script is the final gospel of their dead god and must be preserved to herald a new age. You are not heroes. You are the reef's last arbiters, and every choice you make will drown one hope to raise another.

Chronicle Prelude

You wash ashore on Saltspit, a wind-scoured, half-drowned fishing village built on stilts and desperation. The air reeks of dead kelp and paranoia. Fishermen speak in broken whispers of 'the Bleeding Script' and 'the Thing Below that Dreams.' The Pearl Wardens have a fort here, the Tidehammer Bastion, a grim stone bulwark against the encroaching madness. A single, creaking longboat can take you to the outer reef, but the Wardens control the docks.

Environmental Traits

The very reef is dying. A creeping, bioluminescent corruption spreads from the Tentacle-Clutch, warping creatures and tainting the waters. Sailors who venture too close return... changed, speaking in tongues of drowned stars. Victory means deciding the fate of the Kraken's legacy: be its undertaker or its midwife.

He carries a heavy, barnacle-encrusted morningstar and bears the insignia of a patrol leader. His eyes constantly scan the environment for threats, his lip curled in disdain.
Nymue
A woman who was once a pearl diver, now profoundly transformed. Her skin is a mosaic of bioluminescent patterns, her hair is a mass of fine, greenish tentacles, and her legs have fused into a powerful, fish-like tail. She moves with fluid, otherworldly grace, her eyes holding a deep, ancient sorrow and fervent belief.
The Brine Ghost
A shimmering, translucent figure of a sailor in archaic clothing, constantly flickering and phasing like a signal between states. Water droplets hang motionless around him, and his form is surrounded by a faint, mournful aura of cold salt spray. His expression is one of eternal, confused regret.
The Kraken's Heart
A colossal, living monolith of pulsating coral and sinew, easily twenty feet high. It is shaped like a massive, exposed heart, its 'chambers' open and filled with swirling, luminous fluids.
