The Molasses Tides and Pincer Wars
The Golden Coast, once a thriving fishing hub, is now choked by viscous, magical molasses waste discharged from the inland 'Verdant Bounty' winery. This toxic tide has mutated the native hermit crabs into massive, aggressive 'Pincer Lords' that have claimed the abandoned piers. Two desperate groups now vie for survival: the displaced Fishers' Collective, who see the crabs as monstrous obstacles to reclaiming their homes, and the winery's Verdant Wardens, who believe the molasses is a vital, if dangerous, component of their alchemical wine that could save the drought-stricken region. The party arrives as tensions peak, forced to navigate the sticky, crab-infested ruins.
Chronicle Prelude
The safe hub is 'Tidecross Refuge', a fortified cliff-side settlement overlooking the ruined coast. Here, weary survivors from both factions trade wary glances, and the air smells of salt and distant, sweet decay.
Environmental Traits
The regional crisis is the spreading 'Molasses Blight', which is simultaneously poisoning the coast, empowering the crab beasts, and providing the key ingredient for the Wardens' potential salvation. Stopping the discharge may doom the interior; allowing it to continue will doom the coast. The ultimate victory is choosing a path of survival, if one can be found at all.
