The Ovoo Stone-Tumble Rolling of the Crags and the Loosened Sacrificial Cairn of the Summit

The ancient Ovoo cairns of the Crags are failing. The stones that once held back the psychic echoes of a dead god are rolling down the mountainsides, unleashing visions of madness and geologically unstable terrain. Two desperate groups seek a solution to the spreading collapse, but their methods are diametrically opposed and both come with a terrible cost. Players are drawn into a brutal highland conflict where every choice is stained in gray, and the only path forward is through the heart of the unstable mountain itself, to the summit cairn that is the source of it all.

Chronicle Prelude

The outpost of Greywatch Hold, a fortified trading post built into the side of a crag, now half-empty as refugees from higher settlements pour in. The air smells of wet stone and ozone, and the ground periodically shudders with distant, rolling thunder—the sound of the Ovoo stones coming loose.

Environmental Traits

The entire Crags region is undergoing a catastrophic spiritual and geological collapse. The Ovoo cairns, ancient monuments of stacked stones imbued with binding magic, are unraveling. As they roll, they release waves of psychic energy that cause madness, vivid hallucinations of the dead god's last moments, and trigger landslides. The ultimate goal is to reach the central Sacrificial Cairn on the summit and either re-bind the stones, sever the psychic tether permanently, or claim the power for oneself.

A wiry, cynical man with a miner's pick slung over his shoulder and a perpetually sour expression. His clothes are patched and dusty, and he moves with a scout's cautious efficiency. A personal, fresh burn mark is visible on his forearm.
Echo Wraith Alpha
A towering, vaguely humanoid shape made of swirling grey psychic energy and jagged, floating stone shards. Within its form, one can see fleeting, agonized faces and hear a cacophony of whispers and screams. It radiates an aura of intense despair and disorientation.
Merchant Gerhael
A portly, nervous man with a sweat-stained brow, operating from a cluttered cart near the main gate of Greywatch Hold. His goods are a mix of practical supplies and odd trinkets. He jumps at loud noises and eyes the surrounding mountains with dread.
Refugee Mother Elsa
A gaunt woman with hollow eyes, wrapped in a thin blanket. She sits huddled against a wall, staring blankly at the foothills. Her hands clutch a small, crudely carved wooden toy.
Ancient Stone Golem
A massive, bipedal construct assembled from cracked Ovoo stones and held together by tendrils of solidified psychic energy. It moves with a grinding, ponderous gait, its 'eyes' two deep pits of flickering, chaotic light. It guards the final approach to the inner sanctum, silent and unwavering.
