The Rampant Ram of Scree Slopes
The Scree Slopes are a treacherous trade route where colossal, horned rock rams, normally docile herd beasts, have been trampling merchant caravans with unnatural ferocity. This is no natural disaster; it is a calculated act of terror. The Iron Tusk Brotherhood, a desperate miners' guild facing ruin, has been deliberately provoking the herds into rage to extort 'protection' payments from terrified travelers. Opposing them are the Ram Wardens, a reclusive druidic circle who believe the herds' spirit has been wounded by industrial encroachment and that the Brotherhood's actions are accelerating a catastrophic ecological collapse. Caught in the middle, the players must navigate the treacherous slopes, uncover the truth, and decide which group's vision for the future is worth killing for.
Chronicle Prelude
You arrive at the besieged trading outpost of Summit's Rest, built into the lee of a great cliff. The air is thick with tension and the distant, thunderous crack of ram horns against stone. Wounded merchants litter the infirmary, and a palpable fear hangs over the market. The local constable is overwhelmed, and whispers point to two possible sources of the madness: the radical Ram Wardens in their hidden groves, or the recently impoverished miners of the Iron Tusk Brotherhood.
Environmental Traits
The entire Scree Slopes region is a powder keg. The unnatural aggression of the giant rock rams has severed a vital trade artery, causing starvation in nearby valleys. The ultimate goal is to restore safe passage, but the method—whether through extermination, appeasement, or violent suppression—will define the region's future for generations.
