The Severed Sky: Echoing Cliffs & the Bird-Moss Bargain
The sacred migration of the Winged Serpents—sleek, sky-dancing creatures vital to the high-altitude ecology—has been catastrophically disrupted. Poachers, using a cursed lichen called 'Bird-Moss,' have severed the mystical safety-cords that guide the serpents along the Echoing Cliffs, causing them to crash and become easy prey. You arrive in the frontier outpost of Highreach, caught between desperate conservationists who see the serpents as living gods and pragmatic poachers who harvest them to save their own starving villages. Every choice echoes in the canyons.
Chronicle Prelude
You stand in Highreach, a weathered outpost built into the base of the Echoing Cliffs. The air is thin and charged with static. To the west, the gnarled Watcher's Grove of the Cord-Keeper druids hums with tension. To the east, the ramshackle Poacher's Roost slumps against the rockface, smoke rising from drying racks. Above, the cliffs vanish into mist and the distant, haunting cries of serpents in distress.
Environmental Traits
The entire Echoing Cliffs ecosystem is collapsing. The severed safety-cords have caused a cascade failure: serpents are dying, the carrion birds that feed on them are becoming unnaturally aggressive, and the very moss on the cliffs is mutating from exposure to the Bird-Moss spores. The ultimate victory is to either restore the natural order or broker a painful, new equilibrium before the cliffs fall silent forever.
