The Sluice-Blockades of Old Quarr
The ancient drainage sluices of Old Quarr, once a marvel of engineering, are now choked with bloated, mutated leeches the size of warhounds. They are the unintended, ravenous consequence of failed elixirs—potions of growth and vitality, dumped illegally by desperate Black Market Apothecaries fleeing persecution. The city watch has declared a quarantine, but within the afflicted district, two factions vie for control of the solution and the blame: the Apothecaries who created the plague, and the Civic Sanitators who would burn it all away. Navigate the flooded, leech-infested ruins to uncover who is truly responsible and decide the district's fate.
Chronicle Prelude
You stand at the Watch barricade on Polder Street, the cordon line between the 'clean' city and the flooded, quarantine zone of Old Quarr. The air stinks of stagnant water and something metallic-sweet. Guard Captain Vael gestures you through with a grim nod. Your task is simple, he says: enter the old district, find the source of the infestation, and stop it. Behind you, the city murmurs. Ahead, the gurgling of blocked drains and the soft, wet slithering of something large.
Environmental Traits
The Old Quarr district is a network of canals, crumbling tenements, and submerged basements, now a stagnant swamp choked by giant leeches. The Civic Sanitators plan to flood the entire district with alchemical fire from the Great Cistern. The Black Market Apothecaries, hiding in the depths, believe they can synthesize an antidote from the leeches' own mutated blood if given time. Both factions see the other as the true cause of the catastrophe. The players must navigate this warzone, gather evidence, and ultimately choose which path—or which lie—to believe.
