The Sudden Deluge of the Flooded Shafts and the Inundation of the Diverted Underdark River
The subterranean rivers of the Underdark, long held in delicate balance, have been violently diverted. The ancient dwarven holdfast of Khaz Morath is being drowned by a torrent of dark water surging from the sealed Glitterhame Grottoes. Two desperate factions race to control the deluge's source: the last descendants of Khaz Morath seeking to save their ancestral home at any cost, and a sect of deep gnome refugees who believe the water must be released to save their own doomed caverns from ecological collapse. The players, trapped between rising waters and warring ideologies, must navigate flooded shafts, choose a side, and decide the fate of an entire subterranean region.
Chronicle Prelude
The party arrives at the 'Last Dry Dock', a crumbling harbor district in the upper levels of Khaz Morath. The air is thick with the smell of wet stone and panic. Dwarven engineers are frantically building barricades against the encroaching water, while gnomish envoys are being forcibly ejected. The roar of the diverted river echoes from the sealed lower shafts.
Environmental Traits
The ultimate goal is to reach the source of the flood at the 'Heartstone Weir' in the deepest cavern. Players must determine whether to help the dwarves seal the source forever, aid the gnomes in completing the diversion to save their homeland, or find a third, more desperate path.
