The Sulphur Stranglehold
Beneath the steam-choked peaks of the Cinder range, the famed Hotspring Inn teeters on the brink. Its lifeblood, the geothermal springs, are being choked by unnatural sulfur slime blockades. Veteran travelers hear whispers: the Inn's ruthless proprietors, the Brass Consortium, are engineering the crisis. Their goal? To fracture the strata, isolate the region, and create exclusive, perilous new spas for the ultra-wealthy, leaving the common folk and local ecology to wither. You arrive seeking respite, only to find a community held hostage by greed and a desperate local resistance willing to destroy what they love to save it.
Chronicle Prelude
The Hotspring Inn, a once-thriving mountain lodge now shrouded in acrid yellow mist. The main pools are clogged with pulsating, sulphurous slime. The few remaining guests are nervous; the local staff are sullen and watchful. The air tastes of brimstone and whispered conspiracies.
Environmental Traits
The Cinder Range's geothermal system is being deliberately sabotaged. The Brass Consortium seeks to trigger controlled geological fractures to reroute hot springs into isolated, defensible valleys for their elite clients. This will permanently poison the water table for the surrounding villages and trap a nascent Elemental Spirit tied to the springs. Success means ecological collapse and a potential elemental cataclysm; failure means the Consortium's iron grip tightens.
