The Sunken Hull's Everburning Siege
The coastal town of Shark Bay is under perpetual siege by a colossal, intelligent giant shark and its monstrous brood. The beast circles the bay, smashing boats and devouring any who venture out, while its shadowy presence corrodes the sanity of the trapped populace. The only hope lies within the legendary Sunken Hull, a ruined galleon resting in the deepest trench, rumored to hold the Everburning Torch—a mythical artifact said to pierce the darkest depths and drive the leviathan back. But the Hull is not unguarded, and the factions vying for control of the Torch have their own terrifying visions for the bay's future.
Chronicle Prelude
You arrive at the desperate, half-flooded port of Shark Bay, a town built on stilts and salvage. The air smells of brine and fear. The constant, distant thrum of something massive circling just beyond the breakwater is a drumbeat to the townsfolk's panic. Rations are low, hope is lower, and the only ships left are the barricaded ones used as makeshift fortresses. Whispers speak of the Sunken Hull, visible on clear days as a dark shape in the deepest part of the bay, and the Everburning Torch within it.
Environmental Traits
The bay is under a supernatural siege. The Great Shark, an ancient and malevolent entity, is not merely hunting—it is territorial, intelligent, and seemingly cursed. Its presence warps the water, summoning lesser sharks and creating psychic pressure that induces paranoia and despair. The only salvation is the Everburning Torch from the Sunken Hull, but two powerful factions have already established footholds in the ruins, each with a different plan for the Torch's power, and neither may be what's best for Shark Bay.
